If the Royal baby is a girl, should the name 'Jacinta' be one of its names?!

I believe so. A Once and Future King would be Arthur surely, suitable for a British renaissance, a new Camelot of chivalric grace and prosperity? It's one of the PoW's names IIRC. Perhaps the other Camelot lot should run a lottery on it? Or perhaps the tweeting listeners to Radio 1 should choose it.

[Rather than re-name the thread, I've moved it to Platform 3, since the underlying idea no longer applies]

It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

There could be whole new look for royal weddings.

Now that new legislation's been passed in UK, that could indeed be true, at least in theory, although I imagine that the first same-sex marriage of a member of the British royal family will almost certainly attract even greater international media attention than any previous one, even if only on the grounds of the setting of an historical precedent.

Or what about Murray Edwards? Murray after Andy and Edwards after Eddie, perhaps...

Anyway, "If the Royal baby is a girl", as the thread topic still asks, someone's been speading some porkies pretty widely, wouldn't you say?...

Yes things have come a long way since Edward ll - though it appears the red-hot poker story may have been a red herring. As 1066 And All That put it, "Shortly afterwards HORRIBLE SCREAMS were heard issuing from the Berkeley where Edward ll was imprisoned and the next day he was horribly dead".

                  Oh yes - King Queens

His future bride (if he has one) could adopt the name Kinga & become Queen Kinga*

*Kinga is the pet form of the Old German name Kunegunda, which is a name meaning ‘Brave In War’. (http://www.babynames.co.uk/meaning_o...name_Kinga.htm). Eminently suitable for an old German family.

In a show of empathy with the naming habits of the British people I had thought it might be Princess Tulisa, but Prince Jayden would be a first.

Whatever the child is called, you can bet that a) somebody on The Archers will produce a new baby (without there being any indication that she was pregnant) & call it the same, & b) the name will leap to the top of the baby name popularity charts. Parents who have just had their baby registered will rush off to the registry office & attempt to change the name on the birth certificate and c) the general hysteria in the media will continue until the christening.

I really do hope that you're wrong on all counts but I'll not be holding my breath...

It may already be too late for names.

George Alexander Louis, apparently. Very predictable, but I quite like it.
