The real Miss Marple is back!

(I always found Geraldine McEwan unpleasantly creepy and unwatchable.)

I tend to agree, jb, although the novels do actually give the hint of an unpleasant, village gossipy side to the character, which GM brings out to the full.

Marvellous actress, Geraldine McEwan. I was enthralled by her performance as that unbearable harridan, Mrs Proudie, in The Barchester Chronicles; and, also in the 80s, as that insufferable snob, Lucia, in the rather delectable Carlton adaption of Mapp and Lucia.

Joan Hickson fans without the DVDs can see her as Miss Marple without adverts interrupting proceedings on BBC4 this Monday at 10pm
