Almost, but not quite, as bad as the average Audi driver. Perhaps these cars' safety reputations re. those inside leads to greater risk taking?

Last time I was in the UK I had to rent a car, and I was given a free upgrade to a Nissan Qashqai (is that just a random selection of letters? how do you say it anyway?) which was my first experience of driving a "crossover" vehicle, ie. one that's tall and bulbous and looks like it should have four wheel drive but doesn't. For such a bulky (supposedly "family") car the boot space was pathetically small and couldn't fit two suitcases without the cover being removed. I was wondering what kind of weirdo would buy such a thing. Now I know: a pleasant one.

Me and MsBBM were quite shocked. One day he'll get killed because of the way he was going about the place and who will get the blame?

90% of the time cyclists are not too bad, in my experience.

I’ve only hit a couple of them, at low speed and they tend to judder-off more than slide, really.

Nissan named the Qashqai after the Qashqai (pronounced [qaʃqaːʔiː]) people living in mountainous Southwestern Iran. Qashqai here means "A horse with a white forehead"

Car names are a happy hunting ground for motoscribes and headline writers. Nissan Armada? Please. Versa? Vice springs immediately to mind (and not because of any other websites I may or may not have visited recently). I'm not sure if Nissan was trying to flummox the press when they settled on Qashqai as a name for their new

                    [... no, I don't get it either. ]

                      - and, like Pet, I have been knocked into by cyclists on pavements; and seen cyclists on the road who have avoided being run into more as the result of the drivers' care and skills than their own.

But it's also true that 90% of drivers are not too bad; and the difference is that we can be knocked down by cyclists and carry on walking (albeit with scuffed shins, bruises and a day ruined).

It's not the form of transport - it's the individual behind the wheel/handlebars.

(And as for "arrogance" - put those motorists who park in cycle lanes at the top of any list! )

                        Me too ...

I usually catch the 130 bus which runs every 30 mins and is completely free for mature, post-employment citizens.

Cyclists and BMW drivers, or any other sort for that matter, are rarely a problem in my experience.

Some pedestrians, especially old ladies, should get to Specsavers smartish, though ...

And others - most under 25 - should get a flaming grip and cease the practice of wandering anywhere (inc. across the street in Central London at rush hour) without looking due to typing on their "smart" phones....

Just before Xmas I sold a pair of rather notable antique Qashqai saddle bags through a dealer. They were v beautiful and far more pleasing than an SUV, whatever that is ...

By the time I came back to live in London, 12 year ago, it seemed that the capital's motorists, especially its cab drivers, unlike those of other places, had become used to cyclists and their faults and foibles. One hardly ever observes motorists shouting "Where's your lights?" up here these days, though I often shout "Oi!" at cyclists who pass through red traffic lights at which I am patiently waiting. The worst cyclists are the ones who cycle after dark in black clothing, head-to-foot, without lights. Often, I have to say, Afro-Carribean youths! I figure they are out to demonstrate the proof of Sigmund Freud's death wish.
