I think I was won over by a down-to-earth sort of chap like you being a fan!

Its multiple utility does put me in mind of that immortal line from the Monty Python "Visitors from Coventry" sketch, with Terry Jones playing the landlady of a boarding house.

Landlady: Hello, Mr and Mrs Johnson?

    Mr Johnson: That's right. Yes.

Landlady: Well come on in, excuse me not shaking hands, I've just been putting a bit of lard on the cat's boil.

    Johnson: Very nice.

Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

I must say, this coconut oil is rising in my expectations: I think I'll go for it, since I have a partcuarly intractable and itchy form of eczema all over my right hand, which none of the creams and lotions I've obtained has had any effect on.

I always thought of that as the start of "The North Minehead By-Election" sketch but "Visitors From Coventry" has a certain charm I suppose, in this year of Britten's centenary

It segues into that sketch - when the camera pulls out and one sees the other guests in the boarding-house, by-election candidates Hitler, Himmler and von Ribbentrop

Probably in that linked clip (thanks! ) - but YouTube is blocked here at the office

and no nasty steroids. My advice would be to definitely use the organic raw stuff......really hope it works S_A, eczema is horrible.

Is that the same sketch with the confusion between the maps for Stalingrad, and the Ilfracombe and Barnstaple section? Edit : It is. magic.

they blocked youtube at the office?
              I would resign, Cals.

Very important " research resource" IMO .......

There's a young American guy who's looking for somewhere safe to stay, Caliban - I'm sure he could unblock your pooter for you if you could offer him sanctuary in the executive washroom for a month or so

Landlady: Ooh planning a little excursion are we Mr Hilter?

Johnson: (leaning over map) Oh well, you'll want the A39 then...no, no, you've got the wrong map there, this is Stalingrad, you want the Ilfracombe and Barnstaple section.

                    Hilter, Bimmler and Ron Vibbentrop...

                    Classic stuff

                    EDIT: it's just so good!!

Himmler: How do you do there squire, also I am not Minehead lad but I in Peterborough, Lincolnshire was given birth to, but stay in Peterborough, Lincolnshire house all during war, owing to nasty running sores, and was unable to go in the streets play football or go to Nuremberg. I am retired vindow cleaner and pacifist, without doing war crimes (hurriedly corrects himself) tch tch tch, and am glad England win World Cup - Bobby Charlton, Martin Peters - and eating lots of chips and fish and hole in the toads, and Dundee cakes on Piccadilly line. Don't you know old chap I was head of Gestapo for ten years. Five years! No, no, nein, I was not head of Gestapo at all...I make joke.

Landlady: Oooh, Mr Bimmler, you do have us on.

Just spilt my tea reading this:

Landlady: Telephone, Mr Hilter! It's that nice Mr McGoering from the Bell and Compasses. He says he's found a place where you can hire bombers by the hour.

I am afraid that Ilfracombe and Stalingrad are irrevocably linked in my mind!!

Both either are, or have been, cliff-hangers, TS.

I think you have put your finger on a crucial aspect of the joke there, Bbm!
