I've managed not to put on any weight over Christmas, which is good in that I don't need to go on a diet!
Staying at home meant that we were able to avoid the overindulgence that staying with family tended to involve and still have a good time.
We've shared some trifle with a neighbour, who said longingly 'We never have trifle', in return for some delicious chocolate dessert (we've asked for the recipe), so it's not been all miserable rations.

On the other hand, I came on today to this thread, to report another kind of what some might call affliction. Today is our 59th wedding anniversary. I thought it worth the mention - it doesn't happen every day.

Anyone else getting an avalanche of telephone scam calls?
From next to nothing for months I'm now receiving a torrent of these wretched calls. Google search of the numbers on Who Called Me? and similar sites reveals nothing at all though most of the numbers seem to be registered in India. Thinking of disconnecting the landline and hurling it as far away as possible in order to preserve sanity!"The sound is the handwriting of the conductor" - Bernard Haitink

I have however noticed a slew of bogus emails purporting to be from Royal Mail about undelivered parcels, which are no doubt designed to cash in on the desperate Most arrive in ‘junk’ but not all.
