Well, it’ll be an odd one for me tomorrow. Along with about 70% of my colleagues, and many others in the industry, including for example head office staff at Waterstones, I am on government funded furlough from tomorrow morning. It’ll be the first time in 36 years that I haven’t been working.

I have plenty of stuff to do, ( I knew that 40 cd Verdi box set would come in handy one day ) and , in a very selfish way, time off on 80% of my salary isn’t the worst thing that could happen.
But we will have a huge job on rebuilding the business once the scheme ends.
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

I am not a number, I am a free man.

I’m having my regular appointment with my cancer doc, Wednesday of next week. I had a letter from the hospital yesterday, saying it will be done via the telephone. So that be quite weird!

I think he defected to the LibDems didn't he? The last I heard he had become unaligned - which must be anomalous for a guru!

I’m in the second week of my shielding malarkey thing!

I am getting over an infection in my right ankle, at the moment, which is rather bothersome, to say the least!

The landline rang earlier this morning, and it was Sharon from one of our local Lloyds Bank branches phoning to inform me that the other branch - the one where they arranged to have my lost banking cards replaced in 3 working days - is to close down for the forseeable future. She said they were communicating with all over-70s customers to find out if we were coping all right in the circs - which, as someone usually highly critical of our banks, I thought most considerate - and to give us an emergency number to ring if needed. Managing to imply this might not be readily accessible, as seems widely to be the case, she gave me her mobile number to ring should I be in urgent need, stressing I should not pass this on to anyone else!

Had a very nice surprise. As myself and MrsBBM, are high risk category, we’re entitled to free food parcel every week. Ours arrived and very good it is too.
