For every toss a pancake there is a panhandle.

Gosh, is it really? When I was young my mother used to make pancakes every Shrove Tuesday and on no other day, even though she was pretty good at making them. After I left home it not only it took me some years to cotton on to the fact that not only could I make them too but that it was possible to make them on any day I damn well chose. Fantastic!

Lemon juice and sugar for the first one, then just sugar for the others.

Shame on you R B! Yes, pancakes with lemon juice and sugar ( keep 'em coming Mother!) are a delicious treat - but ONLY on Mardi Gras. Lent is coming and you have to fast and do penance and pray. What are YOU giving up for Lent, RB? Obviously not pancakes.

Having a cold, I hope. I seem to have had about 18 of them since the beginning of December and it's an indulgence I can do without.

A prayer to St Blaise might do the trick - 3 HaIl Marys should be enough. Plus a large hot - which might on reflection be welcome all round.
                  Lemon in mine.

                    Sorry to hear that.

We had lemon and sugar, but we may not give up ....

MrsBBM always makes American pancakes. With maple syrup and ice cream!

                          1030 and 1031.

Both good options! If I abstain for the next few weeks it’ll be by accident, rather than design. Of course now we have hot cross buns to take on - and perhaps I’ll persuade someone to make semlor again.

I just noticed the amount of sugar per slice in the coffee cake we get from Sainsbury's. 11.8g. That's a lot of sugar. My mum gasped and said she'll never buy it again.

I have long been partial to almond fingers. However, desiring a quick bite before last Tuesday's evening concert I purchase a pack of 6 such from a convenience store close to the venue. On checking the ingredients I was taken aback to find the pricipal ingredient was sugar! I don't think I will be buying those again. Fortunately they have a long distant "best before" date, so I can pace their consumption over the next few months.
