I thought it was an unwritten rule that blokes read the back page first?

... such a relief to have further confirmation that I'm not "a bloke".

Not that I ever really worried that I might be...

Oh why do we humans have that frailty of mind, sometimes! this week, I will be mostly catching up on what I done last Saturday! Good lesson learnt from this:

                Is SAVE
at the end of any work you do on your PC!
                Don’t cry for me
I go where music was born

And during ... The most desperate and frustrating moments at work were always those involving hours on end re-doing work that had received prolonged detailed attention - and then been lost when the system 'crashed' ....

Nowadays, there seem to be auto-save programmes which can save the day - but nevertheless... you're right Bbm!
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                  Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Oh, Lor' - it's so soul-sapping when that happens, isn't it! Cali's right, Bbm - save everything as you do it to avoid this trauma.

Yes, but remember that once saved, you can't retrieve anything you might have second thoughts on - as I realised yesterday to my chagrin!

Sign outside New York church: "Jesus Saves!" - underneath which someone has scribbled, "But New York spends".

If only Mahler had realised this when writing his Sixth Symphony!

Mind you, if you believe that you might return to original thoughts, you could always save two versions.

That reminds me of a high street "Jesus saves" sign I saw years ago under which someone had written "with the Woolwich" (which goes to show that it was sufficiently long ago to warrant inclusion in the Things that time forgot thread...)...

One often sees this in the House of Commons ...

On the 10th inst. the TV cameras were understandably fixated on one female MP (I won't mention her Party due to the House Rules) who was nicely relaxed with her legs crossed, thumbing her phone and chewing a bag of sweeties. Not a pretty sight for the more discerning viewer.

Talking about such things, whilst all male MPs wear suits (or at least a jacket and trousers) some female equivalents look like they have just tumbled out of bed. Judging by occasional newspaper reports, maybe one or two had done just that.

Believe me I'm all for having more ladies in the House of Commons but I do think there should be proper gender equality when it comes to an understood and established form of dress-code for all.

If most other employees and, notably, members of an orchestra, are expected to abide by certain dress standards why shouldn't all public-salaried MPs be instructed to do the same?

Failure to wear appropriate dress at the workplace displays a distinct lack of basic respect for those we are all supposed to 'serve', in my ever-humble opinion.

You can "save version" on SIBELIUS - and, it automatically saves periodically: I've often found "lost" work has been kept in the basement. (It's remembering to clear out the basement once a score has been finished that gets neglected.)

Sign outside New York church: "Jesus Saves!" - underneath which someone has scribbled, "But New York spends".
Similarly in Liverpool in the late '70s - "but Keegan gets the rebound".

NO it's not necessary to dress like a 1950's office worker to do that job
let people wear what they like it's NOT the same as a performance

If you are ill and in hospital you might notice that the person who is the real expert is the one NOT dressed in a uniform

Putting on a suit doesn't make you work better, believable or more 'serious'.

(we are going to get the nonsense about shiny cars next, you mark my words )
