Good to hear it, Bbm - that's what friends are for. Hope that you (and your father) have many more opportunities and reasons for many more good laughs soon.

Apparently, when my mother went this afternoon, everything seems to be going well. The trouble is, with four other siblings wanting to see dad, it's going to be a tight time bracket, methinks.

I'm glad to hear things are going well for your father, BBM.

I'm in bed at my elder son's house (yes, I know it's not even nine o'clock yet). Other son and family are in Mauritius, where I gather there are a lot of thunderstorms. My nephew's wedding is tomorrow. Son's holiday was booked before we knew nephew was getting married. Much agonising followed, but we persuaded him to go anyway. It's only a wedding.

I don't much like weddings, but the people-watching might be fun.

Hope all goes well there Mary! Weddings and funerals are always strange affairs, imo?

They're actually very similar: in both cases you are bidding someone off into the unknown.

One takes it that would be the known, as opposed to the unknown known.

You get bigger cakes at weddings.

Thank you BBM. I agree. All went well as these things go - two very different families trying to find common ground. I enjoyed meeting some cousins I rarely see, and managed a conversation which was basically a rave about Iestyn Davies with the one whose passion is playing in a recorder group.

My brother, nephew and best man wore kilts - very elegant, especially as they are all very tall. The bride (I don't like that word) seems a very nice person, and I suspect it will be a marriage that works well.

                  Musical choices were pretty awful.

That's the thing with weddings etc, the music!! They need people who really know what music is! And all about!

Busy day a such, yesterday. Accompanying mother to church in the morning and keeping company till lunch time. My brother took her to see dad in hospital, after lunch. Doing not too bad at the moment. Everything seems to be going according to plan. Be seeing dad this afternoon.

Crikey.... for a moment I though Chandos were branching out into Formula 1 sponsorship....

Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

That would have been an OVERALL impression.

Moët et Chandos; now there's a thought! Sparkling recordings of cork-popping performances for bubbly listeners!...

I'll get me manteau - the one with a bottle of Dom Pérignon secreted into its inside poche...
