In Portuguese, a lawyer is called advogado; in French a lawyer is called avocat; and in Italian, a lawyer is called avvocato.
All three language appear to compare lawyers to avocados, because both the fruit and lawyers have hearts of stone.

Don't you just hate all those ads which have
1) multi-people walking from left to right through a constantly changing set of environments
2) cartoon humans or indeed anymans especially British Gas ( doom to Hoskins)
3) Gambon (doom) telling us that HSBC is the "World's" bank when it has refused to honour our cards in Italy and Jaipur, in the latter case even after notification
.....there, there, it'll be alright soon.................

I knew that because I've gone looking for a connection before...it did seem possible Is it too much to hope that the Spanish saw the same link and bent the pronunciation to suit?I keep hitting the Escape key, but I'm still here!
