Hope that Apple isn't a Granny Smith.!
The fellow who designed the new generation of computers for Apple in about 1980 (I can't recall his name) had a favourite Californian apple - the McIntosh - and he named the programme after it (but had to spell it Macintosh for copyright reasons!).

Does this mean that your "posh school" starts term just as all the others are about to stop, Bbm?

The posh schools round here seem to be increasing term lengths, giving better value for money, and fitting in with the 24/7 world very nicely.

                daft sods.

Could someone please tell me what the acronym "HIP" or "HIPP" stands for? Please forgive me but I do not frequent internet forums much at all.

It's "Historically Informed Performance" (I think the extra "P" represents "Practices" but I may be corrected about that bit)... it's the alternative (and shorter!) way of referring to 'authentic' or 'original' instrument performances and techniques

(I see Jean's smoke has been replace with the poster! )
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Indeed, your right Cali! The extra P, is for Practice(singular, I think). Historically Informed Performing Practice.
