Bartoli is playing some brilliant shots to only sparse applause.

... yes, the crowd seems very one-sided

She was indeed ... I dread to think how many Shredded Wheat she'd shifted this morning. A very impressive performance :

Wasn't it good to watch two women playing tennis relatively quietly

I don't ... she bounces around the court like a demented Orangutan in contrast to the delightful and increasingly rare femininity of Miss Lisicki, who I fervently hope wins it next year.

She (Ms Bartoli) is an extremely good tennis player, mind you.

What an extraordinary image to employ, not least because orang-utans (dememted or otherwise) might lope but they certainly don't bounce and if any stereotype is likely to be regarded as resembling an orang-utan it is a gingery Scotsman

Indeed it is 8thObs, a welcome respite from non-feminine tennis players bouncing around like demented primates.
But, seriously, who watches the womens' final? And those that do watch: either the players have the wrong coloured knickers or their knickers are too big, or they grunt in an unladylike fashion, or they haven't shaved their legs, and of course, if the unexpected one wins, well - she's obviously a lesbian.

What a star! Cecilia Bartoli is not only the world's best mezzo soprano ever, but in her spare time she wins the title of Ladies Singles Champion at Wimbledon.

Is there no end to her talents?

I must look out several old matches I still have on videos. 2008 Queen's Club, Nadal and Djokovic, John Mac and someone, going back to about 1990.

Wimbledon flies by faster each year. I don't watch much other tennis.

If I had actually been there live on centre court , I would have found it difficult not to have openly professed my love for miss lisicki....

....dare say the end of the match might have been a bad moment....
