Federer is a Swiss machine but if Murrey doesn't win, then I hope Djokovic does.

    Early days yet.
I find it difficult to get worked up about tennis since Tim retired He was so beautiful to watch, even if he didn't get as far as Andy. I suppose I watch tennis as ballet, and I'm usually disappointed!

It was a shame about Nadal, but it was the only match so far that I've found exciting. On the whole I don't care much who wins, and I haven't the faintest interest in the nationalistic side of it, so Murray means nothing to me. Tennis is the only sport I ever watch - it's sort of part of my culture in way that no other sport is.

I was fascinated, though, to learn that Ben Johnson, the young tenor who sang so exquisitely in Cardiff (and imv should have won the Song Prize) was a junior golf champion. It just doesn't seem to go together, rather like Shostakovich and his football referee qualification!

(Britten, of course, was extremely good at tennis, and the Victor Ludorum of his prep school . One day I may stop thinking that music and sport is an unlikely combination.)

      Likewise

We got a glimpse of the lovely Maria Bueno in the audience a little earlier.

Wish Wimbledon would ban caps worn the wrong way round. What's the point?

Seven players have been forced to pull out of Wimbledon on Wednesday in the most injury-hit second round in the competition's history.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Victoria Azarenka withdraw from Wimbledon in the most injury-hit second round in its history.

I watched an extraordinary match between Wimbledon 2002 Men's Champion Lleyton Hewitt and Dustin Brown

As with many things in life, it's more fun to do it than to watch it. I'm just off for a quick couple of sets followed by a pint or two.

funny that, it works the other way round with proper sports like Pool and darts.....

Nadal out, now Federer out. What's happening at Wimbledon.? Is nothing/no-one safe there ?

I've looked at the BBC Sports News. Apparently it's all the fault of the new Scottish grass.

Sounds a bit like 'the wrong sort of snow'.

I understood Wimbledon to be saying that nothing has changed

What? Are the players smoking it? Hasn't hit the headlines up here.

If only Andy Murray would go out, we'd be spared the BBC commentators fawning and gushing constantly and repetitively about "Andy Murray" and we could enjoy an interesting tournament!

Agreed. At the moment I'm hoping, in vain I suspect, that Caroline Garcia will beat Serena Williams in this match. I'm tired of the Williams sisters.

I think Serena is great - she gives so many people the pip, apparently
