The BBC was so excited you get an Error 404 - Page Not Found message on the relevant news page.
Everyone is so excited - what a weekend for British sport. The Lions winning a Test against Australia for the first time in 16 years (41-16) and now - bit less important, the first British Wimbledon mens singles champion for 77 years!
I do find the fluctuations of morale, of 'momentum' as Henman just called it
That's what I find gets in the way of the game . I'd rather know who's won so that I can just relax and study the match.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

In the end I was quite pleased that Murray won. At least he didn't need to cry this time, and Djokovic has won it once, I think. He and Murray seemed to me very equal players, so although it was only three sets (thank goodness) it was no walkover.
I still feel rather baffled by it all, though - why people get so excited about hitting balls.

Were you watching, Mary? It's a lot more that just hitting balls, as you very well know. It's athleticism, incredible physical stamina, years of dedication, reaction times that most of us can only dream of, and mental toughness.
It is the combination of all those attributes coming together in a classic match such as we saw this afternoon that gets people so excited.
Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, and your government when it deserves it.
Yes, Murray deserved it ... he has worked hard for this and Lendl seems to have provided that extra bit of professionalism to his game.
Predictably David Cameron has now appeared on our TV screens, telling us how incredibly proud he is. Alex Salmond, equally predictably, was seen flaunting a Saltire.
Politicians should be banned from these occasions. They are a damned nuisance and a thoroughly irritating distraction from the really important things in life like sport.

Because sport is not a spectator game you can just sit back and analyse - it's something you throw your heart and soul into - which is why the Lions v Australia was so important, to Britain's reputation and why Wimbledon is so important today - it's about Britain winning (and no, I am not a Kipper) - it's national pride - it's intensely tribal - you want your tribe to win
Mr Pee - i watched most of it, yes. I'm quite aware that it's enormously skilful at this level, and all the things you say - but. I can't help feeling that in the end it's just a bit....well, pointless.
