However, in contrast to Ms Bartoli, Miss Lisicki displayed a human weakness and vulnerability alongside her natural, charming demeanour which is an irresistible and therefore winning mix indeed when it comes to popularity with a British crowd. Of course, the cynics amongst us may have suspected that Miss Lisicki, on occasion, exploited these very attributes to the full in order to garner crowd sympathy and support. I hasten to add that I am not one of those cynics, and am absolutely confident that Miss Lisicki would never have even dreamt of employing such unsavoury tactics.
Finally, I wonder which ugly, grunting male the Wimbledon crowd and commentators will come out in favour of today and what verbal garbage we can expect from BBC pundits like Inverdale. I'll probably go for the safe option and just switch the TV sound off.
Meanwhile, without a hint of bias, good luck to A. Murray!Last edited by Guest; 07-07-13, 06:17.

Rather more significantly she is also a better tennis player at present than the adored Miss Lisicki...Meanwhile, without a hint of bias, good luck to A. Murray!

A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

I wonder if Inverdale has ever imagined a conversation between Andy Murray and his mum that went the same way ... " You're never going to be a looker ..." No, I thought not.
The casual sexism of it all, and this is the twenty-first century.

That's certainly far and away the worst example of Wimbledon punditry, but the commentating in general has been of an abysmal quality - with the exception of McEnroe - with numbing levels of banality and statements of the obvious. Also the flagrant partisanship has extended beyond games involving British players to for instance the Radwanska v Lisicki semi-final, where the contrast was repeatedly made between the cold and calculating Radwanska ("storing it in her database") and the passionate and emotional Lisicki, calculation in tennis being bad and emotion being good.
But at least a lot of the tennis has compensated, especially that fantastic game between Djokovic and Del Potro

However, ontopic, although I don't watch/follow tennis I did enjoy the second half of the last Murray match and the afternoon promising to be rather hot I think I'll tune in and see what the outcome is.

No that's not what meant Salymap....I do not think that will record the final....what I was saying was, that if you miss it (the final) , it is likely to be repeated (full match) during the evening on 301....(but you will have to take potluck as to when it starts and finishes)................the matches I saw on 301 were played in entirety (after the live match had finished), then when that finished they started again at the first point, first set on a loop....bong ching

I think saly is worried about them switching channels if it overruns, but according to the RT they've allowed until 6pm and say if that happens subsequent programmes will change/run late - it cannot be on BBC2 because at 6pm the mixed doubles is on. Wouldn't it be best to record on BBC1 with the safety net of 301 in the unlikely event that they switch channels?

I'll be listening to music and possibly reading a book.
