What about the other player then? Don't you like seeing them win?

I too hope Murray can do it this year. He more than deserves it, and once it's done, the pressure will be off to some extent and that can only help him. I can't understand people who put him down because of his demeanour. He's a world-class tennis player, not a stand-up comedian.

I don't like the idea of triumphing over another person, so I suppose the answer is no. As I said, I'm not really into sport at all, only for some sort of cultural reason tennis is a bit of an exception - no, not tennis, Wimbledon. I only watch Wimbledon.

Ah well, they may just have put the lid on it where Murray's concerned.

The ref. still gave in too easily too early to Janowicz's moaning re. the roof.

This may be the remedy Salymap....the last three nights at least, they have had the big game of the day running on a loop on channel 301, so I expect the Final will be on there on Sunday....That is , after the final has finished....on Thurs it was Murray Q/F, on Thurs Lisicki S/F and tonight Murray S/F....

Agreed, but it didn't do J much good in the end anyway. Murray was easily able to cope with having the roof on.

I was wickedly reminded of the possibility of a Specsavers ad!

Well spotted. Just don't get me back on Edberg, Borg etc.The only problem is that sometimes the pronunciation does not follow the rules, perhaps for arbitrary reasons, and it's probably best to actually ask the people concerned what they'd like to be called. Chinese players are a particular problem, as over the last few years the anglicised version of many names seems to have changed, so that Zhang, Chang, Chung etc. might actually sound rather similar in Chinese, but we think of them as significantly different in pronunciation.

My decision to support the Polish players didn't do me much good, did it?

May I therefore suggest an immediate switch of allegiance to the Serbs, now, Mary ... ?

It sometimes sounded to me like 'Del Poch-toe' ... anyway, we all knew whom he meant. What a game that was with Djoko. It's maybe a bit of a cliché to describe it as 'one of the greatest games ever' but I cannot honestly remember one played at such a consistently high standard.

Murray was at his best as well. His body language was just right (unlike Wednesday) and his serving was the best I've ever seen from him. Adding that to his superior service return and impressive array of winning shots places him at an even higher level. If he's in the same mood on Sunday it certainly should be some Final!

Meanwhile, come on Lisicki ... after despatching the downright frightening Serena Williams she thoroughly deserves that title.

It is quite a baroque name for an American to pronounce.

Seconded - except that I have no such preference for Lisicki, and have found the BBC partiality towards her inexplicable (Sam Smith took the veritable biscuit with her comment: "I hope Radwanska serves a double fault" - she should have been instantly sacked for that!).

Sure Lisicki's played well, and deserved her place in the final but whenever anyone gets such overwhelming support for tenuous reasons, I invariably find myself supporting the underdog....eh bien, Allez Marion!
