Gorblimey, I'm starting to feel sorry for her!

The really annoying thing about the BBC coverage for me is that wretched highlights show.

In common with so much of the BBC's output these days (R3 breakfast, the Glasto coverage etc etc), it's so inane and gimmicky Inverdale who presents it comes across as gormless to me, and there is so much chat coupled with ghastly 'speshul fx' intros overdosing on the drama, with ridiculous cod-Kipling would-be heroic narrations... it must take up nearly half the programme, at the expense of the action.

And I know this is the age of the video recorder / PVR etc etc but why schedule the damned highlights at 8pm - when it's still light and there's live play going on (on a good day)?! Why not do the highlights later for those out during the day...

I suppose the scheduling is never going to suit everyone, but that time-slot seems perverse to me.... save that it allows Inverdale and others to sit and quaff Pimm's at sundown on their little set and talk endless...

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
          Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

She has had her sublime moments, though ... like the memorable occasion when she excitedly spotted celebrity after celebrity including the First Minister of Scotland, 'Sir Alex Ferguson'.

I agree that this sudden switching of channels during matches is somewhat irritating, but still nothing compared to the truly idiotic questions posed to players by the BBC's Gary Richardson.

Even if Murray wins I don't see him getting past Djokovic.....

Sabine Lisicki has a lovely game and sunny personality to match. Not sure what to make of Bartoli with her karate routines between points. Her training regime looks only just this side of bonkers, but seems to work for her.

Apart maybe from the sunny personality ( ) Murray and Lisicki have much in common. Capable of great things but just as likely to be very, very ordinary.

I think Murray has beaten Djoko more times than he has lost so it will be no big deal for him to do so again. However, I agree that Djoko has by far the better temperament and has to start the favourite. But we are getting ahead of ourselves as that Pole could be a big danger.

Still, unlike the sour vinteuil, I shall be rooting for the Dunblane laddie, and I don't think he'll ever get a better chance to win the Big One!

Yes, I heard about the 6' 8" Pole on R4. It reminded me of the Chic Murray story:

"I met this chap at the Olympics. I said to him, "Excuse me but are you a pole vaulter?" He replied,"Nein, I'm German, but how did you know my name was Walter?"

Reminds me of the no doubt apocryphal story about the German asked how his team did: "Nein, nein", he replied. "Oh well" the Englishman replied, "high scoring game but at least you got a point."

I have it on fairly good authority that it is 11 wins to Djokovic, 7 to Murray

Your fairly good authority could well be right which is why I used a cautious 'think'. I know that not so long ago Murray was narrowly ahead in games won which surprised me. The same is true regarding his record against Federer. The games between Murray and Djoko tend to be very close affairs and there is absolutely no reason for Murray to feel particularly fearful if he meets Djoko in the final. It's just a question of who performs the better on the day.

Murray, in the right mood, has proved he's more than a match for anyone. If he's in the wrong mindset he'll get hammered, and deservedly so.
