Feeling famished? Serve yourself a double portion of light.

A 65-year-old Seattle woman is attempting to go 100 days on just water, shunning all medical advice in the process

I post this only to read what our eminent scientific minds have to say on this lunacy.

A previously unheard of version of Enlightenment, perhaps...

According to the best estimates of astronomers there are at least one hundred billion galaxies in the observable universe.

... I'm sure we've had this lunacy before - I couldn't say whether it was ten or twenty years ago - of people believing they could live on "light".

If I remember aright, people died following such precepts.

It is utter nonsense to suggest that humans can live on light, because unlike green plants they have no mechanism for harnessing it, but if she's got plenty of fat reserves and drinks enough water, she could probably go 100 days without food and survive. Mind you, I think she's bonkers and I shant lose much sleep if she starves herself to death.

Ah, I see. So I don't need to remove this to The Refreshment Room ...

What she would need to prove is that after the 100 days she was as fit and well as she was when she started. Anyone can fast until their organs give out.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

I'm reminded of my school German teacher who loved to mutter under his breath, "He asked for Dunkel and she gave him Hell." I daresay not many of us forgot those particular elements of Ger. vocab. when it came to O-Level
I keep hitting the Escape key, but I'm still here!

If you couldn't answer the questions, you'd look for the Ausfahrt.

                      Totally bonkers
But no more ridiculous than the basic beliefs of Christianity which also fly in the face of scientific knowledge

Should have added that in my day for some reason, Ger. O-level didn't often include questions on how to order a beer! Sadly, I've not got back there as an adult to use this priceless knowledge....
