The Times always used to give Igor Stravinsky's birth date as June 5, the same as my own, but that is the date according to the old Russian calendar. The date more usually given now is June 17 and the Times now follows this convention. Mind, Weber died on June 5.
Gemini seems to be a particularly rich star sign for composers with Wagner, Elgar, Richard Strauss and Stravinsky making their debut at this time."The sound is the handwriting of the conductor" - Bernard Haitink

Oh dear!
My date isn't even on the OP's linked list. After further investigation Ferdinand Franzl (1767) and Sverre Jordan (1972) is all I could find. Who were they?Last edited by DublinJimbo; 08-06-13, 22:59.

Further to #5 I'm happy now. Thanks to Mangerton's new link I can add Frederick Arthur Gore Ouseley!
I am mildly chuffed genuinely to learn that I was born on exactly the same day as Pat Metheny: a kind of personal Electric Counterpoint, from my point of view if not hisI keep hitting the Escape key, but I'm still here!

Yrjo KILPINEN? Did Bbm have a hand in typing this list? I think, with no offense to Mr/Ms Kilpinen, I'll stick with Erich Leinsdorf and Rosa Parkes!Numquam Satis!
