Good to see you back DS, after too long an interval.

glad to hear that you are starting to feel better.

Oh dear. Hope she is ok? One that has slipped quietly away? :(

She is one of many. But in my view the forum is progressively becoming more of a social club and less of a Radio 3/music/arts forum. For many people that makes it less interesting (though I speak for myself on that).
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

                          My view exactly!

(... and wait till the one with "look at me, I'm special" blue type starts inappropriate despatches about his bloody racing car testing at Brands Hatch!)

So did the original Radio 3 forum, although it didn't have as long to develop in that direction. I think it's in the nature of such things that as people get to know each other better there's a tendency to branch out into talking about matters other than their original reason for being here, which surely are added to the Radio3/music/arts material rather than replacing it, I guess there will always be people who don't like things to change but others who appreciate the evolution of a broader-based community. Personally I don't have any strong feelings either way, I mostly come here to take part in music-related discussions but if someone wants also to talk about racing cars I don't see that this makes the forum "less interesting".

And the two subjects don't even need to be seen as incompatible...

So, are you suggesting that, if the Forum included fewer posts and Threads in the "Social Club" style, you would post more frequently?

Putting to one side for the moment a sudden and inexplicable urge to start a "What Pets did you have as a Kid?" Thread, I do wonder why, in your own Posts, the "anti-Social Club" humoresques so outnumber your comments on Music/Arts/Radio3.
