But apologies for going off-topic, I want to know where Amateur51 is.

Don't be too harsh Zucchini. Frankly I would prefer such discussion this thread rather than a separate one entitled "My Current Illness!"

I've been away from the board for a while and appreciate hearing about how others are doing, especially when they have narrowly avoided becoming "Absent Friends". Sorry to hear about your misfortune, Richard. I hope you avoid further complications and can get on with regaining your strength. Be patient and enjoy the music, it's early days yet!

I'm sorry to hear that. I might just have some clues in one of my emails, but I'd guess you (ff) have even better ways to follow this up, so if he's gone (am51) all we may be able to hope is that at some time he will reappear of his own accord.

The last I heard of Am, round about Christmas/New Year was that he was having trouble with his router but hoped to have a new one installed shgortly. He did say he was taking a break from the Board. I've emailed and texted him but had no reply.

I'd thought that the first of these had resigned but might be wrong about that; if I am, he's presumably just resigned himself to the fact that a majority of respondents to his posts were, shall we say, somewhat less than appreciated. As to the second, there are those here whom, as no doubt you know, seem to be convinced that he's reincarnated himself as P G Tipps, but I don't see evidence of this that convinces me. I don't remember much about the third of these. As to the final two, once again, a majority of respondents to his posts were, shall we say, somewhat less than appreciative. You may miss their contributions. I'm not persuaded that the majority here do.

I cannot honestly say that I do (although I'm evidently not alone in wondering what's become of am51) in terms of much of the content of their posts as best I recall it, but the point I sought to make was that they each tended quite often to invite (at the very least) criticism and disagreement from several members here.
