Big fan of the bike, Sir V: I cycle 1 - 1½ hours per day. That's enough for me

No, I think you'll find that's an excuse and that other reasons are at play...
I think feverish searching on the net for ever-more arcane lycra undergarments has much to do with it

And there are I think 'other reasons' e.g. being insanely busy most of the time at work...

Away on business ... for several weeks more, I gather.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Should we breathe a sigh of relief? No, he's always good value.
On the old BBC MBs, I remember Richard 'The Shed' Harris and Sean Austen (now, he was a funny one, in more ways than one) but this is just a trip down nostalgia avenue. Also, harking back years, Ludwig (anyone remember Science or Cheese) and someone lovely, was it P.D. Derlaine? Or Verlaine? Used to live in a barn and write poetry? Maestrolover was another one, I think she went to manage The Sage. I do remember those happy daze. (I am just being sentimental whilst I wait for the rice to cook)

At this very moment I am remembering Veronica's New Name....a very thoughtful poster from a few years ago....a composer and performer....always had something intelligent to say and contribute....

The person I woul like to hear from is Sigolene Euphemia [sp?] She sailed off in her yacht
with one friend and we heard no more.

English was not her first language but she had a lovely colourful way of expressing herself.

                  P. Derlaine - in fact he was the initiator of Science or Cheese (does anyone remember what that meant?). He was working with his girlfriend, Rimblotte, and organising concerts + catering. I went up to one of the concerts in the superb surroundings he had fetched up in, in the Oxfordshire countryside. He had returned from being a goatherd in N. Italy ...

Where is our friend Thropplenoggin just lately? Provokes some real laugh out loud moments here and I miss his contributions as well as the humour.

EDIT: Just spotted a post today. Just a holiday on safari, Thropps?

I hadn't realised the first of your points, and the second - yes she did - very unique and atmospheric, for want of a better word. I do hope she is OK.
Maybe we'll get a post on here sometime soon. I hope so.

She had a young daughter, who didn't go sailing with SE and her man friend. I wonder if ff could tell us if she knows anything ??

Gamba is beginning to seem an absent friend too, hope he reads this.
