Haven't listened to much on R3 for that matter either, but I thought that the recent BaL on Daphnis and Chloe was pretty good.
      Hi there Pulcie! Cheers!

Hope you're dry where you are. Here in Clifton we're getting a little worried but we've not flooded in previous times.

The choir I sing with is travelling hopefully for a concert in July but we've been similarly hit with absences at rehearsals until just recently. Good luck for April.

I do wonder if we'll ever see Jayne Lee Wilson back on here again. I've posted loads of Josef Suk's piano music on the What Are You Listening To thread in the hope she'll see it: Jayne was passionate about his Asrael Symphony.

JLW's last post was on Tuesday (which I've only just seen) and, according to that, she is leaving it until the weekend whether or not to return. I hope that she does. The Forum will otherwise be a lot poorer without her input.

I’m essentially a lurker, and I value jlw’s music commentary. It informs my listening and purchasing behaviour.

She implied she’d focus elsewhere, so I pm’d her to ask where. But her status has been reduced to ‘member’ and she can’t receive pms.

What’s going on? And does anyone know what other forums she’s posting on? I’d like to carry on reading what she has to say.

Is it possible for us to reduce our own forum status to "member"? If so, JLW may have decided to do just that.

                        Don’t ask me, I don’t know.

She is nominally on Facebook. However, she seems not to have posted there since April 2017.

No - unless one happened to make a special request to the Moderator and say one wanted to for some reason. 'Member' usually indicates a suspicious new member suspected of being a spammer or someone in premoderation.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

an update on my personal health. It is mostly good news. I have had extensive testing on the kidney mass, including a not so fun biopsy. It turned out to be a Lymphoma that had set up shop on my Kidney, not a Kidney Cancer. The good news is that I presently treat it by taking one (very expensive) pill a day and the latest scan shows it's gone. I should mention that I have had Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia for about 15 years ago, which has been asymptomatic and untreated since then, and the Lymphoma is a new stage. The bad news is that while it is still, Cancer ,My Hematologist is confidant that this will be a long lasting emission, possibly a cure. The main side effect of the medication so far has been on my wallet.
I was having severe back pain after a fall; that has resolved. I do have a lot of weakness in my legs that limits my abilities to climb stairs, hike, etc. Knee replacements are probably in the not to distant future, as my years of exercising has worn them into dust. I am contemplating retirement soon and selling our home and moving into a single level dwelling. All in all, I feel very lucky,
especially when I gaze about the World and see so many others dying to satisfy the violent whims of others

A wonderful post, rfg, and so good to hear that (thus far) the signs are good.

I have not forgotten your kind invitation to meet, should I ever make it for the first time to Chicago, since to see the CSO (in my humble opinion, an orchestra I consider, under the right conductor, to be one of the very finest in the world), for the first time live, would be a lifelong wish. Not one of the most passionate Solti admirers, but how does his tenure read under his baton? (Sorry, wrong thread maybe?)

The warm Mediterranean sea here has helped to ease those minor winter ailments.

                                Best wishes,

                                Mario
