Indeed I think you mean Leinster lass - aka before hand as Rathfarnham girl. You can find traces of her, but nothing new.

Rathfarnham is on the outskirts of Dublin.

Just remembered another "old friend" - am51 or amateur51 - but long since gone, I think.

I sincerely hope that it's not our discussion of the use of the subjunctive that has caused you to leave.
I'll be sorry to see you go.

Well, first verismissimo gets dumped as the originator of a thread he started then the title also gets dumped on spurious grounds of illiteracy. I'm not one of those who thinks they 'own' a thread but I'd certainly feel a bit sore about it so not surprised if verismissimo does too. Also surprised if veris wasn't consulted first before changes were made.

If above is indeed the reason perhaps some oil could be poured on troubled waters... ?

Verismissimo has been on the forum from the start and was also on the old BBC Forum if memory serves.

That is a little harsh - verismissimo did approve of the removal of earlier BaL 'complaint' posts on to his new dedicated thread and off the programme discussion threads. And that did seem to be in line with his original intention - that posts about the new format should not be posted on the discussion threads. If you move earlier posts on to a later thread, the poster of the earliest post appears automatically as the OP. The post date stamp can't be altered. They have to appear in date order.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

That's fair enough and I accept that but see also post #86 further down on the same thread which does seem to carry a tone of some asperity as if the movement of posts led to something not exactly expected. I see that the further point of change of title hasn't been addressed.

I don't get touchy about such things myself, and I'm not here to answer for verismissimo's reasons for apparently leaving, if indeed be has done, but I'd be sorry to see such a long-standing and valued member depart the Forum as I'm sure you are.

That would seem to be the important message. As for the rest, I don't think I've been entirely keeping up with all the changes.

                        Indeed.

I noticed another this morning though - Gordon. There is still a very faint trace of activity in recent years but he used to post more on technical matters.

                          I'm leaving/taking a break: not sure when/if I'll return.
I'm not posting this out of any sense of self-importance, but a previous time I took a break some members posted their concerns about my absence (which were rather touching), so I thought it best to give notice.

I'm also hoping to take a break from newspapers/online news.
I recognise that I'm apprehensive about the easing of lockdown and things getting back to normal, and I suspect that my addiction to my iPad isn't helping my wellbeing.

                          With best wishes to all.

I hope it'll be take a break rather than leave, but I can understand your concerns and wish you well in your "detox".

Indeed. I think many of us have concerns, of one sort or another. The news media are certainly bad for ones state of mind.
