I thought there was another from this morning, but I must have omitted to actually post it, or maybe I dreamed the whole thing... anyway I have to go out now so I'll come back to it later. (scratches head quizzically and wanders off mumbling something about getting old)

I've done that - many times. Carefully preview it and make all the necessary corrections for a perfect post. Then wander off somewhere else without posting it. But you should be more worried than me because you're younger.

Thanks for that! No actually it was very early in the morning and there was too much going on that required my attention, principally a three year old who isn't particularly concerned about me getting my posts finished before I have to attend to whatever he needs me to do...

Be that as it may, what I was saying was that it's a shame that tempers so often got frayed between BO and other members and I think this is because there are a few people here who probably thought they didn't much care if that troublemaker took a hike because they weren't in any case bothered the music he was interested in talking about anyway, and perhaps saw him just as someone who had untenable/incomprehensible/self-contradictory/reactionary/wilfully provocative views about politics in general and Brexit/UKIP/Farage in particular. And I concluded that the fact that neither Beef Oven! nor other members here (I don't claim innocence either) seemed to be able to carry on a coherent discussion on such subjects is a symptom of exactly the problem that gave rise to the current mess in UK politics, and that I didn't know what the answer was but it probably had a lot to do firstly with taking the time to understand someone else's point of view, secondly presenting one's own point of view patiently and rationally, and thirdly being prepared to change one's mind.

But the thread seems to have degenerated into textile-themed puns, so I guess I should button my lip.
