Best and continuing wishes to BBM and RFG for the coming week.
Not only should one not lift a grand piano, it's not a good idea to pull one either. Always push, and as with the general lifting rule, keep your spine as straight as possible.

Thanks ER! RFG, we only get tea and biscuits here. This is the UK NHS!

Back home, just about 1pm. Next Monday be having a infusion done, in other words a drip put in, which will help strengthen my bones. Had a great time with Semyon Bychkov conducting Wagner!

You catch those in singles bars if not careful!

Oh well - here's another one. Have today been diagnosed with neovascular (wet) age-related macular degeneration (AMD) in left eye. Started almost out of the blue - some five days ago. Eye injections to start early next week. Oh the joys of old age - probably should be thankful to have made it to old age. (Not absent or missing just yet).

Good luck with that. The drug used for that--called Avastin over here--is amazingly effective at drying up the leaky vessels and preserving site

Thank you, Richard - They'll be using EYLEA (aflibercept) 40 mg/ml solution for injection in a vial.

Good luck with the surgery! - Fred

Best wishes with the treatment. I was sent to the AMD clinic a while back but it turned out to be something else. I guess we all get a bit frayed round the edges as the candles on the cake multiply.

BBM and gradus - thanks for the good wishes. Thankfully I've dispensed with birthday cakes some time ago, so no embarrassing candles to remind me.

I once lifted a double piano, which was to be played by a duo at a concert later that day. I can't remember their names, though I can probably find them. They played, amongst other things, the piano version of Holst's Planets.

The pianists were rather fussy about the double piano which I think had some history, and insisted that the several man team of us engaged to lift it did so with great care with- "no pulling" and "no pushing".

It still turned out to be rather an effort, and as we put it down my neighbour said something like "if we have to move it back b****r the lifting!"

Normally I enjoy Laurel and Hardy but that one gave me a serious pain...couldn't watch it.

Had my back surgery yesterday . I feel dramatically better. Post op pain, of course but that should pass in a few days. Listening to the Du Pre/Zuckerman/ Barenboim recording of the Tchaikovsky Trio.
