Until Beefy posted yet another of his periodic enquiries into the whatabouts of people whose contributions he missed, I was rather hoping this thread would fade away. I really feel it's more appropriate to enquire off board rather than publicly poke into reasons as to why people are no longer posting. Yes, in some cases people do choose to return after having their accounts deleted, and if they want to take on fresh identities, it's their prerogative. Nothing to do with me.

In other cases I may be very well aware of the circumstances but I wouldn't say anything here anyway. If people go, they go. If they come back, they come back. We do what we can in some cases behind the scenes, but behind the scenes seems to me the right place.

Just an opinion from a member.

I was Beef Oven from Jan 2012, then ff terminated my account for making 'an unhelpful post in a difficult situation', or something frightful like that. Some Friend of R3 was throwing his weight around on the forum and giving a hard time to a few people and was particularly horrible to Barbirollians. I hate bullies and for some reason that I cannot fathom now, I decided to do my bit to defend Barbirolians. Anyway, the FoR3 heavyweight threw a bluey and made all sorts of threats and ff wooped herself and I bore the brunt! I couldn't resist being a member of a club that wouldn't have me as a member, so I tried to sign back up, but every time I tried, the name 'Beef Oven' was banned. So on the suggestion of a forum member who will remain nameless, I used the name 'Kipper Kid'. I didn't really like the name and after a couple of weeks I had a brain-wave. Maybe if I added an exclamation mark at the end of Beef Oven, it might get past the forum security dobermans. It worked and the rest is history. I'm basically in my fourth year as a Beef Oven (!).

As I've said before, I've yet to be convinced that PG is Scotty (or vice versa) and, as best I can recollect, he implied otherwise on several occasions rather than admit to an e duobus unus status but, as FF suggests, each member's chosen forum ID is up to him/her, as is when they join and leave and when or whether they post, so it's only when they're banned that it's anyone else's responsibility; that being the case, does it really matter (other than to said members themselves) whether they wish to continue their active or passive presence here? I'm quite sure that any or all of the five mentioned (of whom all but one appear to have left the forum unless they've rejoined under new IDs) could join and post if they so choose and the one who has not actually left presumably hasn't posted for over a year because he hasn't wished to; you do at least have the option of send him a PM if you want to do so!
