Not exactly friends, but rather odd nevertheless.

I mentioned Henry Wood's daughter,Avril, who worked with my friends at the British Council. Up
popped someone who is still listed and sent a photo as he holidayed with the Woods as a child.

The same with Fred Marshall, whom I knew at rehearsals. She appeared once also- a friend of Fred who died recently..

Are they really still members after one visit? one for Ff of course.

Whatever happened to Freddie Campbell, he of the idiosyncratic post layout and ex-Life Guards bandsman?

I had a PM here from Handsomefortune, which I replied to, about a month ago, saying she was having computer problems, but nothing heard since. I miss her posts, displaying as they did a remarkable (if occasionally cramped) style of amassing opposing and reconciliating ideas with enviably sharp perceptiveness and idiosyncratic spelling and syntax!

I think he mentioned on the Classical Music Associating thread that he was using a computer at work. Maybe there have been some changes in his work routine. Let’s hope this is the case.

I miss Chris Newman more than ever these days as I am now very much into listening to songs and operas. When I discover a new work, I automatically think what I’d have said to Chris and what he might have said about it. I hope his family is well.

And I hope gamba is well and composing his next story to tell us.

I enquired about Roehre a while back. Has he been back since?

I remember smittims from the original BBC MBs, apart from his knowledge I was impressed at how he liked ironing, rare in men I think you will agree? But he had two youngish sons and wanted to devote time to them, rather than faffing about on the internet, so - good for him. But, he is much missed. I don't recall him as bad tempered, but he didn't suffer fools gladly.

I thought I noticed he was logged in the other day.

Pianorak? haven't heard from him(?) in a bit I think.
Roberta, the voice of the youth section?
Certainly miss 3VS and his unique take on life and music.

As do I. Difficult to believe that it is now over a year since his passing.

"Liking ironing" is surely "rare" in anyone?! I stick Bach on and get on with it, but there's no enjoyment involved in the ironing itself.

                    teamster

Yes, I thought Roehre made a couple of posts a week or so ago, too - but I would always welcome more comments from him.

Yes Doversoul, I too often think of Chris - he was so much a part ofthe MBs. And gamba was around a few days ago -let's hope he's preparing another post for us.
