As well as Edashtav I would like to see Ariosto back. His knowledge, as a professional string player, often made a real contribution, e.g. it would have been interesting to hear his views on Isabelle Faust's tone (after reading the comments on Prom 7).

Ariosto? Hmm. Great stories, lots of humour, fantastic knowledge but oh dear he did have a quite extraordinary talent for rubbing up some people the wrong way! Not me though I hasten to add!

Unfortunately, Ariosto did have that slant in his character.

I'm pleased to say that I have heard from 8thO - by analogue mail, i.e. paper with a stamp on the outside!!

He's asked me to say that he's had a few months computer-less (the thing's sitting waiting to be repaired...); and has been spending the time painting, ordering thoughts and ideas, walking the dogs etc.

So our 8thO is ok, folks

Hope he's able to put some of his paintings online once he gets his computer stuff unhassled.

That is, if it's that sort of "painting" - two coats on the living room walls might not be as interesting.

Mind you, this is 8thOb we're talking about, so who knows ..... !

Not much from Simon B recently.

I miss his perceptive comment on the british orchestral scene.

He's known to attend a few Promenade concerts ...

I noticed that, and I think there is a Walton 1 coming up, which IIRC he holds the British all comers record for number of performances attended.........

Edit: Always enjoy his concert reviews.

In the famous words of Mr John McEnroe:

BTW A little bird tells me that Edashtav is House Sitting(and dog sitting) at this time and has no access to the internet.
I also look forward to his return to the message boards.

Oh I don't know - after all, it could be drying.

Good to know 8th is OK.

                              A preferable alternative to the latest piece by ... no, I mustn't, I mustn't!

                              A great relief, I admit.
