A reference totally lost on me. In the words of Dylan Thomas (?) it's all so long ago.

I was intending to do the HCMF with him, the free Monday, but spent that day in our local A&E with an arm infection, swiftly dealt with.
Chipper and well as always, he’s looking forward to ON Parsifal - booked two performances!
Good to hear (apart from your A&E) - I always enjoyed his serious/humour balance on the forum!

His forum status says ‘Gone fishin’. ‘

Fond memories of his participation in the July 2015 performance of Cornelius Cardew's The Great Learning at Union Chapel, Islington.

I'm still regularly in touch with him (and Richard Tarleton) and as Braunschlag says he's doing pretty well and is happy to no longer have Head Boy responsibilities. 'Gone fishin' ' was his suggestion for his new status as I recall.

                I second the salutations above

I’m also in reasonably regular contact with fhg who as others have said seems to be thriving

Very cheering news about fhgl - never quite sure why ceasing to be Head Boy means entire self -expulsion ...

I think self-expulsion was the main intention and ceasing to be Head Boy necessarily followed.

I remember him being very upset by some critical remarks I made about Beethoven just before he left, and for some time wondered with some guilt whether I might have been the straw that broke the camel's back, since he had been very generous to me in helping overcome some of the laucunae in my musical theory.

Worry not. I think his major reason for giving up both the responsibility and participation was that he really wanted to get down to some serious composing. If you were the last straw, he'll be very grateful to you!

I hope he has. (Although it is actually possible to get down to some serious composing while still contributing to this forum!) (well I call it serious, others might not...) Those reading this who are in touch with him: might I ask you to suggest that he gets in touch with me? If he doesn't have my email address, it can be found at the top of the "concerts" page on my website.

Has anyone any news of Vinteuil? He last posted in July. I miss his bracing pessimism!

I received a PM from him not that long ago. In my reply I suggested he should think about posting here again!
