Thank you also 'ferney '. My problem is an inability to manufacture suffecient blood corpuscles, both red & white, although I was actually in hospital with pneumonia, result of a wartime addiction to the products of Wills & Players.

We don't seem to have heard anything from Curalach for a while - I hope that he's ok and that he'll pop in to see us during The Proms

I too still pay the price for being an ex smoker.
Asthma and regular chest infections for me.

I never knew what to make of the bloke. He suddenly stormed off after taking misconstrued exception to something another poster said, leaving the impression he wouldn't be back. This was a bit of a pattern with Mario: hug you warmly one minute, turn on you the next.

              He was interesting though.

I was one of the ones who upset him for daring to recount the activities of Maltese hunters who were wont to set off fusillade after fusillade at flocks of migrating birds for many years, all in the name of sport.

Mario provided evidence that he had been involved in successful moves to stop or at least reduce this unnecessary slaughter and then as S_A says he went off in a huff.

                All very sad

He was upset over something to do with being accused of siding with people shooting small birdsin Malta. Actually he was against the practise.
Also an ongoing thing about LvB's Ode to Joy.

That's as I saw it anyway.

I don't think that was quite it. He didn't seem to appreciate it being pointed out that Malta itself had a very bad record over bird hunting when he himself did much to oppose it.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

he also got upset about people having a (gentle)pop at Man Utd fans who don't live in Manchester, IIRC.

Edit: Doversoul has been quiet for a bit I think.

You don't have to be from Manchester to support united. Coming from Clapton, I'm supposed to support the Orient, but I've never been to Japan.

Had a few PMs with Doversoul, she's fine.

                          Isn't that a song?
Pleased to hear DS is OK.

                              Banned! (I think).

What's the deal on banned/absent people? Mandy is a good example. I was no pal of his, he had a right go at me and put me on his ignore list. But, he was very interesting, knowledgeable and a great contributor, when he wasn't having a bad episode. He opened some of the best threads and added enormous value. The forum is better with people like him than without.
