I'll just settle for six, all very predictable but absolute crackers:
        Three from Mozart K364, K365 and K299
Two from Bach BWV1043 and 1056
        Brahms Double

(If you were going for triples I would cheat and go for Tchaikovsky's 2nd PC - the middle movement is a stunner!)

          Petrassi alone wrote eight!

Anyway - Mozart SC, Brahms, Carter, Delius - er -

I am rather fond of Richard Strauss's duet-concertino for Clarinet & Bassoon. Britten's youthful double concerto (Violin & Viola) is another candidate, but I must confess that it doesn't do much for me. Someone mentioned Malcolm Arnold's concerto for 2 violins, and I would add his concerto for piano duet and the concerto for two pianos (three hands), both of which are well worth a good listen.

Was the Arnold written for Cyril Smith and Phyllis Sellick or arranged for them?

They had quite a few works written for them after Cyril's stroke.

I believe it was written for them and was known as 'Concerto for Phyllis and Cyril'.

Written for Aubrey Brain and, I think, Jean Pougnet.

I have to admit, I had never either heard or heard of this piece!

Too well do I remember being at the Proms premiere - cheesy music, not one of Arnold's better moments; I wondered what he had been "on" at the time. Of course, the whole audience bar myself went absolutely bananas after the concluding "pop" movement.

Yes, I'll go for the Henze and the Luto as well; that still leaves me rather well short of ten, though...
