I rather wish the Overground was a circular trip, but you have to change twice to get back where you began. (Or you could just stay at home).

Pendolinos, though, are potentially brilliant trains, though I do concur with DracoM about the lack of luggage space. Voyagers (also introduced by Virgin) are much worse.
The practice of sitting in someone else's reserved seats and avoiding eye contact is also rife on East Coast trains.
