    I think carnal tunnel syndrome is endemic in men.

    To return to the thread topic....

    As an undergraduate working as a courier with young Americans in Europe I caused gasps of astonishment from a coachload of these teenagers by calling to my female English colleague 'Shall I come and knock you up tomorrow?'.

      In Thatcher's case the diagnosis was indeed Dupuytren's contracture. "A Doctor" was quoted in Private Eye as asserting that the condition was invariably associated with advanced dipsomania. Surely Thatcher's strict Methodist upbringing would have ruled this out?
