Seriously though I think I am probably the least musically knowledgable on here and was very loathe to post on musical matters at one time.
I was put off by the fact that there are people on here who teach,write and play music (some professionaly I gather)but feel I am getting a bit braver now.
I've learned more about music from this forum than from any textbook.

I don't know the difference between a rising 5th and a rissole either and would urge anyone who feels afraid to post (all those 'guests'?) to just go ahead and do it anyway. If you want to know which Beethoven 5 to get but are afraid to ask, just ask anyway, you could be amazed at what you will learn.

The first rising interval of the horn theme (Swan Hymn) in the last movement of Sibelius 5 is not the same as a rissole. That's very kind of you to say so Petrushka but I wouldn't class myself as any sort of expert on British music,just obsessively potty about the stuff.
If that pottiness encourages others to investigate then I am very happy.

I should warn you though that I am becoming increasingly obsessed with neglected Russian symphonies,so you might find yourself listening to Miaskovsky very soon.
