I did make a vow not to post on this thread but thought the following may be of interest.
The excellent WW2Talk Forum dedicated to the Second World War (I dip in from time to time) has a similar board to our Platform 3 but does point out that threads on Modern Politics and Religion are not welcome and will be removed.
May I suggest that this policy be followed here? That would mean that threads on coffee, wine, stormy weather, football, etc, etc all survive intact and the troublesome ones declared unwelcome. I would also welcome a zero tolerance approach to those who ignore house rules or endeavour to by-pass the above.
This would seem to me to be the ideal solution because another damaging fracas will finish us off."The sound is the handwriting of the conductor" - Bernard Haitink

Hardly a "solution" at all IMV more like a recipe for a snooze .......
Are we allowed to discuss music in relation to politics ? The death of MT has got me listening again to some great stuff that is directly influenced (see Rock pop thread etc ) but in your "new world" that's OT as well .......

But, as in the case Petrushka mentions, the problem is when things people are 'passionate' about aren't really central to the purpose of the forum but take up a disproportionate amount of members' attention, and hence can change the apparent emphasis of the forum. It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Perhaps threads on someone who has just died should be banned, as much of the fracas was caused by people who held the view that you shouldn't speak ill of the dead.

What FoR3 could consider (if technically possible) might be a board that doesn't appear on the 'New Posts'....'What's New' page.... because it seems it is a matter of FoR3 wishing to 'appear'a pure music board to the outside and less argumentative posters (for want of a better word [i.e 'pure'], with no side in my choosing that word)....Maybe there could be a board within a board with a password for those who to go there, open to all.
This may be talking rubbish or may be technically impossible with the current software....Last edited by eighthobstruction; 13-04-13, 12:48.bong ching

I like your style, Padraig
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."
