I am glad that Mrs T has died.

It's not big,it's not clever and I wish I wasn't glad, but I have my reasons and it is what it is.

      .
So why bring it up here? Why contaminate a perfectly decent thread with your hatred of another human being and the gloating that she has died? Shame on you.

Thanks, 8o, I do! These were excellent programmes, and recorded not a million miles from here.

I often wonder how much rehearsal was done. I envy these musicians their ability to sit together and perform so apparently effortlessly with not a piece of music in sight.

Here's another Irish air, 8th. You remember The Mountains of Mourne, where the lad writes to his Irish sweetheart about London....here is Mary's Reply.

            RM re msg 32

Are you acting as a policeman and censor against anyone who expresses any views other than a statement that Mrs T was a great PM and a wonderful human being?

I don't think it would be a bad idea to keep the more polarised opinions on the other thread. I think we all need a bit of light relief at the moment..... I know I do....just saying......

Perhaps not surprisingly most of the left side of the Labour benches was empty but the right side was full. Ed Miliband gave by far the best speech, imho. It was impressively statesmanlike extolling Thatcher's personal achievements and leaving the political stuff out for the occasion. Clegg looked uncomfortable. Cameron was ... well, just Cameron.

I switched off after Miliband, as I can only endure one or two of such speeches, however well they are delivered. These are only really meaningful to those who knew the deceased personally?

What on earth or indeed elsewhere has Brahms the chamber music composer to do with old ladies dying?...

We, however, are still here, and it's a lovely day. And I've just finished listening to a symphony by Asger Hamerik [who he?], the Symphonie Lyrique. I recommend it. It seems more meaningful than the death of an old lady.
there you have it! Brahms is more meaningful ...

exactly (and I could quite happily live without Brahms)
