I too have been out ....twice....still thick snow in the lee of every wall....waiting for the cherries in the village school to come out as my comfirmation that spring has arrived [no sign yet]....just a lot of Dunnocks here and the odd Chaffinch....first walk without me gortex....still Easter hol's so kids playing(sound of)....have one dog very slow and another very fast, with me hesisitating between them....with writing a bit about Ireland today I've had Irish Aires wafting through my mind and making their way to my lips as breathy gentle whistles....bong ching

... contemplating me mortal coil this afternoon i read a review of this by Prof Mithen [of Singing Neanderthal fame] in the LRB .... 648 pages of gentle academic wandering through case histories etc ... Prof Mithen is much impressed .... just the thing to read on a swinging hammock by an oil lamp with a whiskey on the rocks .... [no class warfare &c just anthropology and archaeology] ... bliss ...

In fact I did - I was assuming the thread title referred to his YorkieIt isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.
