An article in Gramophone recently announced the arrival of a whole new generation of historically-informed performers who are no longer content to just play on gut strings. A group of medieval musicians, Viol Bodies, intend to replicate all aspects of 14th century life, including subsisting on a diet of salted goose gizzards and mead replete with the dreaded "floaty bits". These daring troubadours are to reside in authentic abodes, too, sleeping on straw floors, and will also don only historically-accurate smocks. They intend to live, eat and breath medieval life for up to a year prior to entering the recording studio. Lead viol player, Rudy 'Rhubarb' Rubatolloni, is quoted as saying: "We want the listener to be able to smell this epoch when we play!" When asked if the group would be prepared to be infected with the bubonic plague, Rubatolloni said: "Bring on the boils!"
What fresh HIP luncacy is this?!
