"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."
If i'm a rich person who only knows people with low paid occupations and has one cultural activity ......"listening to rap music" then I am part of the "Elite"
and apparently (in this instance)
Enjoy high cultural activities such as visiting museums and listening to classical music errr NO
Went to private school and elite universities errr NO
Socialise with people who do a wide variety of jobs errr NO
This confuses wealth with 'class' in a ridiculous way ..........
and exactly the kind of nonsense that helps to divert from real issues.....increasing income gap, war in Syria, that kind of thing ...
Any way here is how it is in the West/America.
Top. A very small group , perhaps.001% which owns disproportionate wealth and allows them great control of the economy.
Below them. Approx 10% who do really well financially, and who have the influence (for example in places like the upper echelons of the BBC, ) to ensure the status quo.
next 20%. Doing decently, financially. Aspire for the most part to join the 4 holidays a year mob one notch up, and thus in the main support the status quo. They vote in elections.
Everybody below that is either working too hard to have time to express their opinions to any effect, or is part of an underclass, which is deliberately set at odds with the "working" part of the bottom 70%.
GG can we connect on Linked In please? I want to become part of the upper-class power elite in the next 24 hours.
With thanks
Ludwig van Beef Oven
Just knowing about linked in defines your class in absolute terms.
I can't remember which class it is though.
Some of my bosses are on LI. I think that means they are important.
Or over paid.
Or not got enough to do.
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.
Well, I'm traditional working class (apparently) which 'scores low on cultural activities', in spite of specifying that I go to the opera, listen to classical music and visit museums and art galleries (go to gym). Presumably these also don't rate highly on the cultural scale ...
Snap!

... whereas if you were part of the élite - apparently you -
"Enjoy high cultural activities such as visiting museums and listening to classical music

Which classes play snap?
perhaps class can be more sensibly defined by the card games we play.
Personally , I like snap, Newmarket, and German Whist.
Rummy is Ok.
