The third act? (hint - it includes the 'Good Friday music')

I will have to decide on what to play.

      1. Barenboim with Meier and Jerusalem
      2. DVD of the Levine MET Parsifal
      3. Blue Ray of the MET recent production with Kaufman

I am thinking it will be number 3.

I shall play Act 3 from the 1964 Bayreuth Festival (Orfeo) in memory of the great man himself - Knappertsbusch. Hotter and Vickers never sang better.

I bought this set because the prospect of Callas and Christoff singing together was irresistible, I would have bought it if they'd been singing Chinese. And I dont think they sang together again, at least not for a commercial recording? Does anyone know?
I bought the set because Callas is my favourite soprano of all time and the thought of her singing in Parsifal was irresistible! It was also very cheap

Could Kna's 1951 performance at under £4.50 incl. p&p for a used copy in good nick be a place to start?

Beefy, that looks a great steer. I have a mountain of music I need to listen to,in fact a range of mountains, but this is going on the list. The amazon reviews are mouthwatering.
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

I am not a number, I am a free man.

I don't own a recording, but had often heard it on Radio Three at this time of year. It had never made sense to me, in audio only, until I, too, saw this magnificent Met production relayed in HD at a local cinema.

Is this an unusual Radio Three Good Friday not to present a broadcast Parsifal?

Not sure if I'll fit in the whole show, so after breakfast I went for Wilhelm Furtwängler in Vorspiel and Karfreitagzauber. I hope to get around to playing some of the Calllas version - with or without buns - as prompted by Beefie's reminder above.

I limited myself to Celibidache & the MPO's Good Friday music this morning, not sure I'm going to be able to consume a whole one today. I'm in a Starbucks and there's a Marks & Sparks down the road, so I'll get some buns (Parsifal is better in the version with buns).

Not enough time this Easter for a whole Parsifal, so it's just act 3 for me this weekend.

And given the time constraint, it will have to be Boulez!

Just £13.23 inc. p&p on Amazon!!!!!
