Soprano Rise Stevens dies aged 99

US mezzo-soprano opera singer Rise Stevens, who sang with the Metropolitan Opera for more than 20 years, has died in New York, three months shy of her 100th birthday.

Not a singer in knew well but a lovely Cherubino in Gui's Figaro .

Alas. She was a very sexy Carmen, in the recording conducted by Fritz Reiner on HMV in ancient mono. The LP box cover is something else, she looks like she isnt so much about to seduce you as bite off your sensitive bits for an hors d'oeuvre (not sure about that spelling, but you know what I mean: a nibble).
