I envy you apart from the cold. As well as Trifinov you have a very fine conductor in Rafael Payare.

Probably cheaper than a box of Lemsip, even after P+P is included (the standard £1.26?).
Hope you feel better soon. You didn't mention the Paganini Variations and R+J too: enjoy!

Conifer. one of the better things about West Drayton......I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

Yes. It came on very quickly and didn't linger. For instant, I wasn't troubled with the banging head and constant running nose, but five days on the effects are still with me. Voice remains hoarse and there's still a heft of phlegm on the chest.
Regarding that first remark about the flu. True flu is a once in a lifetime thing. In my case I was about fourteen and hopelessly bed bound for several days.
The worst had to be the pain in the eyes if you dared to look left or right.

Went down the doc's this morning with suspected dislocated thumb, and he gave me papers to take to Kings for an X-ray. "Oh by the way, have you had your flu jab yet". No, I replied, adding that I usually wait until about November and get it at the chemist that does my repeat prescription. "I can do it right now if you like", he said. I didn't feel a thing. Now, that's NHS efficiency Mr Cameron!

I seem to recall reading somewhere that in Victorian times it was noticed that those London dockers who off-loaded cinnamon from the ships never got colds. Interested in testing this one out: how does one take the cinnamon, as powder or as sticks? And in what way? Anyone know?
That apart, keep the cold away from the ears at all costs. I had a really miserable time trying to shift it when it got badly into mine and it took about 4 months for normality to return."The sound is the handwriting of the conductor" - Bernard Haitink

Thaks for asking TS - same as for the last 10 days when the problem suddenly started without explanation. I'm taking Ibuprofen full strength now and will see how it goes for not mkore than a week, when the doc says it would start conflicting with the heart condition drugs I've been on for 2 years now.Last edited by Serial_Apologist; 05-10-15, 23:13.

Tonight was Marriage of Figaro (ROH) at the local cinema - very good.

I have been hoping I'd get through it all eventually - it's better than it was, but hasn't shifted completely yet. Going on planes, and on trains which go fast through tunnels doesn't help, nor does going out to public venues with lots of people, though I still do that.
