Not especially clever, I'm afraid. I always had it open, along with the regular forum, in my browser, so it was there when it disappeared from the menu.

All ready for return to normality?

Petrushka: have you re listened to the Vienna concert? I haven't; perhaps it wasn't that special this year ??

It might be time to take the plunge and acquire the Honeck Strauss CD.

Not sure I have, but if I did , I don't remember it.

never understood the phrase the "New Normal" either ........although if loafing around listening to Gliere on the night before going back to work is "normal", then normal it has to be.

Did anybody hear the BPO new year concert, on Digital Concert Hall, or elsewhere? turns out a friend of mine was there.

Hi Alison. Yes I watched my own DVD recording of the NYDC again and enjoyed it more second time round as is so often the case. Not one of the greats, perhaps, but enjoyable. I should still have the Pretre concerts somewhere and might instigate a search to see if I change my mind about them. Will look at the Honeck CD - keep forgetting!

Back to normality? No such thing as 'normal' as we say in our house. Things just evolve.

Been quick to book a couple of days off work this week for a Barbican concert on Thursday coming back Friday. Nothing like having a day or two off just after the Christmas break. It pays to have something to look forward to all the time and not be bothered what the weather does.

Yes indeed. I found I'd adopted a similar strategy when booking some tickets a year or so ago... I must post somewhere more relevant about the terrific Mahler 5 on Friday evening with the BolĂvar lasses and lads (now late twenties/early 30s... from a perch in a box above the back desk of violins, there are quite a few thinning pates among them! Tempus fugit....)

So.... Sir Simon in Rite of Spring etc?
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                        Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."
