Up in North Norfolk on hols for the week, couldn't get a signal for love nor money last night.

A totally wondrous result for the Foxes. It's so good for us not to lose at home let alone Spank the mighty Reds.

Quite a bit of extra listening time.

    Bax Symphony 5
    RussianSuite

    Brahms Symphony 3

    Weber Overtures

Bryan Terfel English song vol 1

      Evening Sunday nighters.

All feeling a bit down after the soccer results?

      Pet surely supports Stoke City?

Have you got that new BBC Philharmonic/Andrew Davis Bax CD, Edgers?

        Hi All

just dropping in , before an early night....long drive tomorrow.
Disappointment for Saints...should have had a late equaliser but forgot to take a simple chance !! at least the Foxes got something out of their game.

Long week at work, then hopefully some Bruckner and Mozart from the BSO in Basingstoke on Friday.
Have a good week all !!

Where are you heading for then Sainty?

Was impressed by Karabits and the Bournemouth in a recent evening concert broadcast.

Evening, Alison. Football isn't my game, sorry, but having said that my late father used to take us kids to the Victoria Ground in the late 60s very early 70s so I saw some of the great players, especially in the visiting teams among them Manchester United (Bobby Charlton, George Best etc), Leeds Utd and Liverpool. I also went to the 1972 League Cup Final (Stoke City v Chelsea) at the old Wembley Stadium.

Unfortunately, in those days the hooligan element was ruining the game for everybody else, we stopped going and I lost interest never to regain it.

The only sport I like at all these days is horse racing.

It was, wasn't it? One of my work managers at head office goes to the Arc every year, says it's very cheap to go (you get in for next to nothing apparently) and one of these days I'll do it.

Stoke had a fine side back in the early 70's....and were awful for decades afterwards. Still , they are good these days. Its a proper football town, like Leicester !!

As you say, hooliganism really ruined the game for while...now its high ticket prices and mney obsession that is the problem.

No need to worry about versions with the Bruckner 7, ts. It's one of the few Bruckner symphonies without any 'issues' apart from the disputed cymbal clash in the adagio.

I think Andreas Ottensamer is in the Berlin Philharmonic and his father, Ernst, is principal clarinet in the Vienna Philharmonic. I think I've got this right.

                        Hi Alison and gang.

I'm certainly not down after the footy,Stockport on a roll.
I don't have the Bax cd yet, looks good though, intrigued by the orchestral pieces, the viola phantasy will have to be good to beat Roger Chase on Dutton.
The first time Sir Andy has recorded Bax ?.

My daughter, son in law and the grandkids have finally moved out of here and in to their new house,so it's all gone quiet.
Were any of you on the Arc winner ? Pet maybe ?

Enjoy the concet ts (even though it's Bruckner)

                        Have a good week all

                          Cheers for the info Pet.
Something I was reading suggested there were some issues with different versions, especially re the percussion, but I'll take your word for it ! I'm not exactly an expert on versions of Bruckner ........

I Hadn't researched Ottensamer either, but it sounds like he is well up to the job !!

The single cymbal clash in the adagio of the Bruckner 7 has a note above it in the score saying 'not valid' but it's disputed whether or not it's in Bruckner's hand. Most conductors retain it these days.

Sorry, ER, I wasn't on the Arc winner but a tenner on it would have been nice. It's sometimes good to watch the racing without the added stress of watching your horse come last (an all too frequent occurrence, alas). It doesn't do the BP much good!

I really want the new Pires disc of Beethoven concerti.
