    Evening all.
    kinda missed the tennis again.

yep, starting to really look forward to the Proms.

feel sorry for Pet and his Chailly dilemna.....perhaps it will be great anyway.

Thinking I might take in the Bartok/DSCH concert early on.
    Any thoughts on this one?

Evening all. I'll probably go to the Alan Gilbert Proms (hell, it's a couple of days off work!) but disappointed to have this happen.

Hope Caliban has managed the decorating and CD/book cull. There must be very few CDs I haven't played in 20 years, though some BBC MM ones come to mind. I've got every one since issue 1 but I really must have a serious cull of them. A state of anarchy can be proclaimed in my listening room with CDs piled in every available space. Something must be done!

A week at work then it's Proms time the following Friday so some 3 or 4 day working weeks coming up.

I am useless at throwing out CDs as much as I try and books too . There is always the "well I might want to listen to it again someday " feeling .

You only miss the ones you get rid of (I speak as one who knows whereof ... the worst idea I ever had was "downsizing" my CD collection twenty years ago.)

Similarly, you only regret the ones you don't buy.

Gaps in shelves (or on the floor) only encourage you to buy stuff you don't really want to fill up the space.

Here endeth today's lesson - but it applieth equally to tomorrow: you hath been warnethed!

Evening Rob, yes, 4 years since I had a little bet on Germany to win the 2010 World Cup. Spain won. In 2014 I had a little bet on Spain to win and Germany win (or do they? Not over yet and looking like a penalty shoot out).

Sad about the passing of Lorin Maazel this Sunday evening but glad that I have two 4 day working weeks coming up due to Proms visits.

I wAs only reading a review of Maazels latest Mahler recordings in Smiths this afternoon. Not a purchase I was really considering. It will seem strange not having him around.

Evening Alison, I've wondered about that new Maazel cycle. Not an essential purchase perhaps but it's been on my radar, shall we say.

As Germany win, my wife (born in Leipzig) has arrived in front of the telly from the kitchen having been too nervous to watch the actual match but enjoying her fellowcountrymen's celebrations. So a happy house here.

Yes enjoy the Proms Pet and the graduation ts.

Lorin Maazel,I don't have many of his records but one I do have is THAT Mahler 4.
Always sad when these iconic conductors pass away, they have been around all the time I have been listening to music.

                            Messi,player of the tournament,REALLY ?

Over the whole tournament yes but Argentina were the better team for most of the match and should have scored three at least- but if you do not take you chances ….
