Yes, very pleasant weekend - just as well, I had a crip day at work on Thursday (one of those days when you think you've done everything you can to prepare for, but nothing goes to plan). Did you hear the Burgess piece in last night's concert, by the way, Rob? Very enjoyable - RVW, Bridge, Ireland, Tippett, Mathias & Walton were all there, if not much Burgess (other than the splendid craftsmanship involved in putting the influences together without the joins being too obvious). Still available on the i-Player; I doubt it'll ever be broadcast again (and a fine performance of Elgar #1 in part two, too).

      Yes he is Am.
However, since that day when he said the last movement of Mahler 5 was nice music, there's been little progress, despite my best efforts.
I'm not giving up just yet though.

Bit strong conversation, should this not be moved to the politics and current affairs thread?

We Essex people went from summer into autumn in under an hour this afternoon.

Live R3 concerts on Saturdays and Sundays ? I am behind the times.

Weekend concerts just started, Alison. Despite weekend Proms concerts can't get used to the idea after many years of Saturday opera but it's a good move in my opinion and long overdue.

What's better than a week in which I have a day off work? The answer is one in which I have two days off work and that's what I've got on Tuesday and Wednesday for the Orchestra Mozart/Haitink concert.

Have great couple of days off, Pet, and enjoy !!
Look forward to a review of the concert.
Hoping very much to get to the Nelsons Brahms at the RFH on Thursday week.
I am lucky enough to be able to get to and from London for a concert on a working day.

This would sound like a good idea for me next weekends, as of yet nothing planned but only early stages yet!

I'm going to stay up to watch the Saints on MOTD2, and carry on discovering the music of Wolfgang Rihm.

Nobody ever seems to discuss his music .
                          is it very uncool?

Good evening ts and all other Sunday nighters.

                            I'd rather be listening to Mozart K563 if I'm honest,which I am,so I am.

Well done on the win, Sainty. You're quite a force down there now! New managerial appointment kind of vindicated ?

Found a CoE/Haitink Beethoven 9 on YouTube. Finale just beginning and a thrilling ride so far.
