    Sunday nights.
I reckon the depression normally starts at around 10 pm.
    RVW time then, ER.

I try to combat the back to work blues by lining up some good listening for the week.......

Got Szymanovski Violin Concertos 1 and 2 newly arrived in the post, for starters......

Just starting my Xmas CD pressie list too.........well sort of.....

fancy the new Lutoslawski naxos box set.

      As late as that?

It's been a bit of a duff weekend anyway with my 94 year old father giving us some cause for concern. Elderly parents, sad to day, are a major problem and there's nothing easy one can do to make life more bearable for all concerned. It's getting to be a big worry.

I like to adopt teamsaint's approach and line up my listening for the week then it's something to think about when works gets boring.

the upside of my job is that I get to hear a lot of music in the car....i wouldn't call it listening, but its a plus.
I tend to find that solo piano music works better than orchestral in the car, due to road noise, variation in volume etc.

New company car arrives next week .....140k on the clock on this one.
Hope its got a fab sound system.....not holding breath though.

Still a company car is a good thing, so can't complain !!

Like ER, sorry to hear about those problems, Pet. They can be very tough times.

I wonder if the B52s, XTC, The Undertones, et al expected their fans to be talking like this in 2013!?

With the average age of most on here, I suspect it's not exactly a unique situation.

I think that, IIRC classical (and so on) fits in somewhere in the title of this perky little throwback...

A promo clip for the track off the 1983 "Mummer" album.

apologies to those who don't dig the Swindon sound !!

I've already had my RVW medication today (3rd Symphony,Haitink).

So now it's Mendelssohn, Songs Without Words,Ilse von Alpeheim.
As soon as I here that opening rolling accompaniment of the first of the Op.19 set, then those gorgeous falling intervals (5ths I think ??,from about 0.21 in this Glen Gould clip) things don't seem so bad.
                          (Sweet Remembrance indeed)

As the Mendelssohn kicks in,I bid you all good night.
                          Sleep well.

                            Evening Sunday nighters everywhere.

This is the better kind of week ahead: one in which I have a day off! I've got Friday off to meet up with my usual friends, a couple of cakes, a coffee and some good chat. Haven't met for a while what with holidays and Proms but now back to our usual meeting up every six weeks or so routine. Be our annual Christmas lunch before we know where we are!

Back to work tomorrow after a week off.

I fancy some VW medication too. Perhaps the LPO live Seventh.
