interesting comment about seasonal listening. Some stuff is seasonal for me.Lieder and Choral tend to be more winter stuff, winter afternoons in front of the fire. Reggae/Ska in summer of course.

Saints start withe WBA away. they did us twice last year. I daren't calculate how many Proms and RFH concerts I could do for the cost of a PL ticket. Suffice to say I can do train from Basingstoke and ticket for the RFH for well under an ordinary league game ticket price.
Glad the gee gees seem to be going well for folks.
Might go back to it when i have this music lark cracked !!

Where do the Foxes start , Alison? Is Nige still at the helm?

Yes I was on Opinion too, yet another top notch ride from Ryan.

Perhaps I'll dig out some RVW for the car journeys this week. About time I gave Job another spin.

First game away at Middlesbrough 3 August.

A mere six weeks away. Leeds at home the following week.

No managerial change. In fact all very quiet since play off disappointment.

Petrushka was not happy about Opinions's win on the stormy weather thread yesterday Alison, something to do with non runner and jockey switching tactics.
We were singing your praises as the forum racing expert too !

Oh and Job is far too special for in car listening IMO,needs a home alone, darkened room, phone off the hook approach.

We really need a specific racing thread sInce discussion is often fragmented among several threads of differing vintage.

              There's this, Alison: http://www.for3.org/forums/showthrea...ht=Four-legged

Maybe the fences need to come out of the title so it can cover everything. I can do that if you like

You were a bit unlucky with Shaishee, Robbers. I was standing very near the winning post and you were only caught in the last couple of strides.

                  Yes, that would be good.

ER did start one then Barbirollians' started the Frankel thread which became our racing thread. Now they seem to be all over the place so yes, a dedicated racing thread would be just the job.

Hope my moan about Opinion's win didn't come across as sour grapes. It wasn't meant to be. It was a typical great Ryan Moore ride and he's my fave Flat racing jockey by a long way, but he wasn't meant to be on that horse. I'd backed the one he should have been on. A lacklustre effort from Sir John Hawkwood and a no more than average one from Duke of Firenze scuppered any chance I had of winning anything. Had RM been on Opinion in the first place I could have been in line for another boxed set!

We'll make Rob's the main one then. I'll try and find the Frankel thread... Let me know if there are any others you want me to merge!

What about the racing posts (geddit?! ) from here?

UPDATE: You should find those two merged now - let me know if it suits

That's right, Rye House was taken out because of the way the ground was riding (too firm).

That sort of thing can be annoying. You fancied Sir Michael and Ryan to win and they did but not on your original selection.

I can see Rye House being saved for Goodwood now.

                          Worth backing then, Alison?

Seems to be a horse on the upgrade but would need to assess opposition and price nearer the time. Not many miles on the clock which will help as the season progresses.

Yes, it is indeed and one I love more with each hearing. Odd that this was the one Sibelius symphony that Karajan neither performed or recorded. I'm not sure if he had a particular aversion to it or didn't rate it but it's still odd. Bruckner 9 for me when things get on top of one.

Thanks, will keep an eye on it. Very sad about Thomas Chippendale as I know you liked this one. Sir Henry's widow certainly having a roller coaster of a time of it. Good luck to her if she intends carrying on.
