You've defeated me there! Anyone got an old Enigma machine?
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
      Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

I was thinking that Brassbandmaestro had invented a new word, until I remembered there is a very fine woman composer of surname Beamish!

                  Sunday Night.
Washing done. Garden slightly tamed. CDs tidied up. Some stuff not really done.

Time for me to play " Compare Sibelius 3 performances" , and some Sunday night banter (between movements of course).

Wonderful piece! Perhaps the most under-rated of the great Finnish master's symphonies?

not asking the right person, but it is indeed wonderful. Not a hard piece to like at all.
                      (unless you live in Stockport).
                      .
Jayne Lee Wilson recommended this version yesterday.

have to agree it is knockout.
You have a fave version, PG?

I had a massive breakdown in 1991 and it was this piece that helped me 'back'. The cd I had was the SNO under Gibson which may not be the 'greatest' but it's my personal favourite.

Been there pg,my cure was RVW and not reading newspapers or watching the news.
Vaughan Williams remains to this day my anti-depressant medication.
My aversion to Sibelius is well documented on here and it's something I just can't explain.

oh and good evening all Sunday chatters, don't these Sundays soon come around.

The power of music is extraordinary.
I'll think of Sibelius 3 in a rather different (and even better) way now.

Evening all. For some reason I always turn to Sibelius in the Autumn and can't seem to relate so well at this time of year.

A truly epic weeks racing at Ascot. It's almost a relief to take a break from the drama today.

Have you all checked your football teams opening fixtures ?

Stockport are so far down the pyramid their fixtures aren't out yet.
